My final DAOS results + some code & tips

Permalink 11/01/09 19:22, by Dennis van Remortel, Categories: IBM, Lotus
At last weeks NLLUG, Jeroen Keet of Appligate held a session on DAOS. In that session he referenced my testserver results.

This post shows my final results on the servers I DAOS-ed with Domino 8.5.

ServerDisksizeFree Space beforeFree Space afterGain

Total Gain? 1219,5 Gb...... Wow!! That not only lowers the load on the domino servers, but also on the backups. The TSM guys really like me, cause backup times and space in use just plumit!

Please take a look at this tip by Ulrich Krause, so you keep the DAOS filecount down!

I wrote a little script, so you can compact databases with from a lower ODS to ODS51 after you set CREATE_R85_DATABASES=1.

Sub Initialize Dim session As New NotesSession Dim dbdir As New NotesDbDirectory("") Dim db As NotesDatabase Set db = dbdir.GetFirstDatabase(DATABASE) Dim servername As String servername="Server/Org" While Not(db Is Nothing) If Instr(Lcase$(db.FilePath),"mail\") Then Call db.Open("", "") 'from 6/7 to 8.5 use 43 'modify when upgrading from different versions If db.fileformat=43 Then commando$="load compact -ZU -n -v -C " & db.FilePath message$ = session.SendConsoleCommand( servername, commando$) End If End If Set db = dbdir.GetNextDatabase Wend End Sub
