Problem with CAE part deux

Permalink 04/18/08 10:55, by Dennis van Remortel, Categories: IBM, Lotus
Over the last week I've been emailing with Bob Balfe and on his request I created a PMR for the problem I reported here.

After some discussing the issue, I got a call yesterday from IBM asking me to explain once more what my problem was, and now they have been able to reproduce it. So, now it's an SPR.

act: reproduced on Notes 801 EN:

0. Open Notes 801 standard client

1. Create a new application

2. choose the "Blank Composite Application" template

3. in the comp app editor, choose "Actions" -> "Edit Appliation"

4. in the components side-bar right click and choose " Add Components"

-> "Add NSF component"

5. if you get an error message about the palette not being editable, confirm with OK.

6. in the "New NSF component" dialog now choose the browser button next to "Notes URL": Browse.

7. click the folder icon next to "application / current database".

8. choose a database that has been opened in this Notes client before (ie. is bookmarked).

9. when you return to the new NSF component page, you'll see a proper Notes URL filled in.

10. repeat steps 6 to 9 with a database that has not /never been opened in this Notes client before (ie. which is not bookmarked)

11. when you return to the new NSF component page, you'll see an invalid Notes URL instead:

Notes:///0000000000000000?OpenDatabase

===> reproduced

action plan: create SPR.

Which makes this the first time for me a reported problem is actually acknowledged as a problem on IBM's side that hasn't been reported.

The workaround is simple: Bookmark the database first, so you can select it from the pulldown.

Thanks IBM for hearing me out on this issue. Now I promise as an admin to leave the developing over to someone else ;-)
